Oddball Stephen Parr Visits D'Ant

Stephen Parr, Director of Oddball Film+Video in San Francisco, CA, was in Pittsburgh on Friday, September 26, 2006 to exhibit The Subject is Sex 2 - "the second volume in his extraordinary personal romp through the seamy side of Sex in Cinema" as laughingsquid.com put it. He screened his compilation of "bizarre medical films, burlesque bits, sexy cigarette ads, peepshow loops, unintentionally erotic & hilarious commercials and campy movie trailers" at Jefferson Presents, the monthly experimental film series run by Dreaming Ant members Adam Abrams and Gordon Nelson. If you've never been to a Jefferson Presents screening, shame on you.

The following evening, Parr exhibited another new show Oddities Beyond Belief - "a surreal and sublime look at a world gone wrong" (anthologyfilmarchives.org) - at a friend's house in uptown. But before Parr could escape da 'Burgh, his friend, fellow archivist-filmmaker, Warhol Museum's projectionist, Dreaming Ant member, and all-around badass Greg Pierce brought him by the store on Sunday to check out our humble little antfarm.
